My Blogging Adventure

Blogging was a tool I used that helped me discovery inner thoughts I had. This is a place where I can show people what runs through my mind. They say you shouldn't hold back your tears.I agree but you should hold back with what piles up in your brain either. Let it out! These exercises which I was forced to do helped me become a stronger writer, and a stronger critical thinker. Blogging isn't about just putting facts up, but rather  putting up your opinions. This is what I enjoy about blogging, no one is ever wrong! What I found difficult about blogging was whether I thought they were good enough to read. I didn't want to waste anybody's life time. After a while I got over that, because no matter what I was getting my points and I was expressing myself to the world. In every blog I try to add humor, because that's a talent I have. This was a wonderful experience, and I will forever cherish being forced to blog.

Figurative Language

Without figurative language there are no pictures painted in the mind of creativity. Figurative language helps me express, and open myself up to others. For example the cup hit the floor and broke. That is too boring to read, how about, the fragile glass cup slipped and collided towards Earth and shattered into pieces. The difference is the strength of imagery. Metaphors and similes are another that are very common and effective to painting pictures in one's head. Mostly all musical artist use metaphors or similes because its so strong  that it impacts the way people think. I am the type of person who enjoys poetry, and in poetry these types of figurative language are necessary to make your reader think deep into their thoughts. Whether that's involving emotions, or describing a time in your life. Figurative language is a tool that everyone should use, because it helps paint pictures by using simple words.

What I Saw On TV

Just the other day I was watching a professional fight on television. The main event was Cotto vs Mayweather. The results were that Mayweather won the fight, and it was clearly his victory. Mayweather was a beast and just smashed Cotto like a soda can. Besides the win for Mayweather, I feel that the fight was already paid for. Before the fight I feel like there was an agreement to who would win. I am starting to feel like this about every show I watch. To me everything now a days is scripted. For example, I feel like Jersey Shore is nothing but an act. The way Vinny leaves due to anxiety, and then returns without showing any symptoms throughout the rest of his experience at the shore. This is the reason television has became so boring to me, I don't believe anything besides the fact Spongebob is yellow, and Patrick is pink.

Places That I Enjoy

As a person I have three favorite places I enjoy going to. One of them is camping, another is the snow, last but not least is Mexico. Camping has always been something I enjoy, because every time I go camping I go with family members, and friends. What I like most about camping is nature. I enjoy fishing, and anything that has to do with survival. This memorial weekend I will be camping, and I am going to reenact man vs wild. The snow is so much fun, as a kid my parents took us every year. I enjoy going down the hills on an inner tube, building snow-mans, having snow fights, and visiting the arcades at the casinos. Mexico of all is where memories are built. I have 42 cousins in Mexico, and at least a third or a little more are my age or close enough to my age. I have so much fun going to the beach, hanging out, and doing random stuff. These three places are what keeps my heart filled with happiness.

My Dream

I have a dream in which I will finish a major that pays a lot, and I have a dream that I will get married with a sophisticated women who finished her major as well. All I need to do is prepare, if I prepare my goal is only an arm length away. In the future I see myself owning my own house and in the household I see my wife and three adorable children. I might as well have a pet dog like I did when I was young. For the moment I'll buy a family car, and an economical car. As for my dream car I wish to have a Ferrari and a Lamborghini. Then for my retirement I plan on owning a house in the city, and a home in the rural areas. Hopefully I will make my dream come true, as for now I am putting my effort in achieving my goals.

Achievements

All of these pictures to me have a sense of accomplishment. Although some may require parental advisory, the sense of having an unforgettable memory still remains. I will start with the first picture I added to the blog. After four years of my sister being at Humboldt State University I finally paid her a visit. This is a goal I had in mind for many years and I am glad I achieved it because I had the best moments of my life her last year at Humboldt State. The second picture is another accomplishment I had, because this was my first club I have ever been to. For many years I tried getting into clubs in Mexico but I was too young looking (sexy). After being 18 I took my identification to Mexico and got in without any hesitation. The next picture is a little over dramatic, but it has a meaning to me. For the first time I went to San Francisco and I took a bottle of non alcoholic beverage. I felt accomplishment when I shared and finished it. My cousin said, "congratulations, you may now add it to the hall of fame!" The next picture up is my graduation. After four years of high school I finally acknowledge that no longer was I forced to go to public school, now I could shape my life up by making my personal choices. The last picture is a picture of me studying and taking some time to replenish my thirst. After long days of studying passing the classes are a sense of accomplishment.

Must Watch Movie!

"The Avengers" directed by Joss Whedon, and staring Robert Dowing Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson, was an outstanding movie. I picked this movie because my friend is really into comics, and watching the movies. My friend wanted to watch the midnight premier and I remembered I had to write a blog on any movie so I decided to tag along to the premier. The genre throughout the movie was action. Almost every moment had a sense of action and entertainment. The message that I got from this movie was that good guys always win, especially when everyone has their own unique talent.  This is important because it symbolizes that everyone has something to offer, and the contributions make a difference. What I liked about this movie is that it engaged with the audience. The whole time people in the theater room were excited to see the heroes smash the villains. The movie really there for the people and I feel like it lived up to the expectations of these people (according to their reactions). " My secret is that I am always mad!" (Hulk). The incredible Hulk is a beast because he can take shots and still be standing. This line defiantly pumped up Hulk fans, because he did exactly what he was suppose to do, and that was take on many machines with his strength. Anyone who has the opportunity should go watch "The Avengers"!

Hell No We Won't Go

pg. 224 What Matters In America
Internet Cartoon
These two are ironically related, one could be that both the Statue of Liberty and Mexicans are illegal in the first place. Why is that? If one can't be here why should the other. They are closely similar due to the fact they aren't from the United States. The Statue of Liberty cartoon is very controversial within the people in boat. In reality the right thing to do is to take the Statue of Liberty back to where it came from. The bottom cartoon symbolizes a bit more of a racial comment. The Statue of Liberty wasn't white enough to stay in this case. Both of these picture deal with immigration and how they want to control it to lower levels. Every person counts as a number of how many are deported. Since the Statue of Liberty still stands so do the Mexicans. Deporting 3 million illegal Mexicans averages out to five Mexican front yards parties.

Must Read!

I read the novel "Hunger Games", written by Suzanne Collins. This book was published by Scholatics Inc in 2008. The basic summary of this novel is about a young lady named Katniss, and she lives in an era where the capitol overpowers the lower class. It starts off the same day the reaping is going to happen, and that is where they pull names from a bowl to see who will be playing the hunger games. It is a fight till the death! Katniss little sister Primrose was choosen, but Katniss insisted to voluenteer instead. Katniss was sent away along with a male named Peeta who was also from the same district. They both were eventually going to kill eachother but they were bothed being trained by the same people. The day comes up and the first thing Haymitch( the trainer) said was run away from the weapons. As they did what they were told people who weren't given that advice slaughtered eachother. After retriving later with weapons; one by one was struck dead in the forest. Eventually leaving Katniss and Peeta teamed up against the gathered group. Soon to realize the rules were changed and that there would only be one winner between either Katnis and Peeta. They managed to both win the title with the intelligence of commiting suicide and no winner. They took the title back to district 12 happy.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys the pleasure of forestry, and action that leads to suspense. Although I gave up most of the information, there are times when you actually feel the emotions of a certain character. You learn more about who they really are. I feel that the book was way better than the movie because I just pictured Katniss to be brave and not such a weenie like in the movie.

Are You Curious?

Just the other day in class we were discussing whether money brings happiness. In my perspective I feel that money does complete empty holes in life. The fact is you have to know how to use it, and to never let greed take over your life. Then the question came up, " did you guys know that they say that there is a lottery curse". This caught my interest so much that I didn't hesitate to look it up in a matter of seconds. On the web I found information about divorces, murders, and bankruptcy due to the lotto winners. Sometimes I daydream, but what if I didn't open myself up like they did? What if I paid all the bills I needed to and kept it a secret between just the family who lives with me? I also daydreamed if I would to be the first to put the curse to an end, but would you give it a chance and lose everything you love and desire for money?

Too Much Violence

Francisco Lugo
ENG 100
Instructor Mott
04 April 2012
I found this website to be very interesting. These types of questions are very difficult to answer, because it is more of an opinion rather than a definite answer. I actually got a little more insight about video games. When I was a child I have to admit that my mom would not let me play video games that involved dramatic violence. For example guns were prohibited if I wanted to play some sort of video game. As I got older I bought my first game when I was 18 and that included modern warfare two. I am actually proud to say good thing I didn’t play that game when I was younger, because now that I am mature I can view things different, without getting easily affected by violence.
I did not find it difficult to answer the questions that were given to me. My final decision to the image of video gaming was that it was okay to use it as a homepage. According to what I have read, I feel that video games are a new generation form of art. The reason for this is because it takes time to put all the details together and at the end it turns out to be media art. This involves new media technology, including digital art, computer animation, virtual art, computer robotics, and much more. The image that I found offensive was the art piece by Andrea Mantegna's St. Sebastian. This image involved the death of a saint, and to me it was a very strong image that had a lot of negative energy, and it consist strong feelings. For a video game, I don’t think that the art piece by Andrea Mantegna's St. Sebastian can relate to a specific video game, because now a day’s video games have a different perspective. There are the fantasy games, and then there are modern warfare games that may have a little bit more truth to our world. Yes one quote mentioned that the more you play, the more you are programmed to react in a violent game, if in this case violent games are all you play. It makes it easier to make actions like this when you are accustomed to consume violent acts every day. I find this true, because a lot of what we learn is used in practiced in our daily lives.

Arnold's Three Mentors

Mr. P: If it wasn't for Mr. P, Junior would of never left the reservation. Mr. P was a positive influence, because he suggested the untinkable. It wasn't because Junior threw the book at him, but rather that he saw potential in in. He was smart and he wanted Junior to take that ability and use it to his advantage.

Junior's father: Although his father is an alcholoic, Junior's father was very positive about Junior leaving the reservation. words that inspired and  enlightend Junior's soul was when his father said, those white kids are not better than you. Juniors motivation climaxed when he knew his father would be behind him under any circumstance.

Gordy: If anything Gordy is the more realistic friends that Junior has had. He is very caring because i myself wouldn't ever find a friend who would want to teach me or educate me as much as Gordy. He is actually pushing Junior towards his goal.

I Want Vodka!

The young people in this add look amazingly beautiful, outgoing, and they look like they know how to have some fun. The targets for this add is people who are at least twenty one, because it is improvising alcohol. I see that it is effective, because men usually like having good times with ladies. By this i mean conversations, and alcohol gives that side effect that allows people become more friendly, and sociable. I see that if you were to purchase their Russian vodka you will be capable of living the image they are providing us. in a mans perspective, who wouldn't want to drink and have a good time with women !

Burger King Advertisment

What i love about this advertisement is the fact that the word " free " is bold and bigger than all the other words in the picture. It is an attention grabber, and what i also see is strength. Not literally! The woman in the add is a barbarian strong woman who can only be strong if she eats the most important meal of the day at Burger King. I would expect to see this add in med-evil times, when kings ruled the land. I feel that Burger King wants people to know that you will feel like a warrior mom who doesn't have to cook no longer!

Proceed Progress

Living my moment, burying my past.

Sweetheart

if you have the book, " The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian, written by Sherman Alexie, you will soon realize that throughout the book there are illustrations that Arnold does. One that caught my attention was when Arnold drew a picture of Penelope. He drew her picture because he was astonished by her beauty. I find it funny, because prior to witnessing Penelope, he went on about how he liked girls for their hips. In this case he found himself talking about how beautiful she was in every single way. I find it funny because true love could swipe you off your feet, without realizing it. Also when i see this, i also see a potential friend, and it must feel great from having no friends to having to exchange words with someone who is willing to be nice to you.

The Undestroyable Car

A Jeep for sale, and without a scratch on the car it looks convincing. Wait, I'm persuaded, and I will give into the idea of having the best car ever. Who wouldn't want a car that not only is indestructible in our cruel world, but I also want a car that is untouchable in any other world. Would this mean I would have to purchase two cars? No not when I've found the perfect one. I think its interesting because they try to emphasize that the Jeep is powerful, and it is strong enough to pull through tough situations. In this case the situation is getting stuck between combat, but with the message it conveying itself, I realize that its a get away car that is unstoppable.

Old Navy

In Damien Cave's essay, " On Sale at Old Navy: Cool Clothes for Identical Zombies", I find it interesting how they use tactics to grab our attentions. Consumers are so blind they can't seethe fact that everything is a scam. It is as if they are a secret society that is overpowering our views of reality. I myself am an employee at Old Navy, and I never realized all these issues Cave is concerned with. I am an employee, but there is always an LOD. An LOD stands for Leader on Duty. The LOD tells me every fifteen minutes I should do a service blitz, and a service blitz is going around the whole store asking people if they want a mesh bag. A mesh bag is exaggerated bag , people usually think it's a bag to put babies in. After reading this essay, I felt guilty of passing out mesh bags, but what can I do? I answered that question myself, I just tell my LOD no one wanted one.
