pg. 224 What Matters In America

Internet Cartoon

These two are ironically related, one could be that both the Statue of Liberty and Mexicans are illegal in the first place. Why is that? If one can't be here why should the other. They are closely similar due to the fact they aren't from the United States. The Statue of Liberty cartoon is very controversial within the people in boat. In reality the right thing to do is to take the Statue of Liberty back to where it came from. The bottom cartoon symbolizes a bit more of a racial comment. The Statue of Liberty wasn't white enough to stay in this case. Both of these picture deal with immigration and how they want to control it to lower levels. Every person counts as a number of how many are deported. Since the Statue of Liberty still stands so do the Mexicans. Deporting 3 million illegal Mexicans averages out to five Mexican front yards parties.
These are interesting. I've noticed a lot of political cartoons aren't necessarily laugh out loud funny, as they are stop and make you think about it for a while, and then sorta ironic or sarcastic funny.
ReplyDeleteThats interesting that I caught your post today because me and my dad were just talking about the irrational immigration laws in Arizona and how they are going to the Supreme Court to sort out some lawsuits. good post...the last sentence gave me a good laugh :D
ReplyDeleteI like your cartoon analysis because it depicted on how immigration and races is define.
